Concert Bands

Pushing the boundries of music

The Spartan Concert Bands make up the largest single component of the band program at Greenbrier East. All Spartan Marching Band members are required to be a member of either the 4th Period Freshman Concert Band or the 5th Period Upperclassman Symphonic Band, however the concert programs are open to all students, even those not in marching band.

Both of our concert bands are made up of woodwind, brass, percussion, string, and keyboard musicians of all backgrounds. Members of our bands have diverse interests and have also been associated with various other programs including athletics, healthcare, engineering, theater, poetry out loud, FFA, the Spartan Choral program, and many more.

Conducted by Mr. Jim Allder, the GEHS concert bands have a reputation of engaging students beyond their comfort zones and helping them grow into stronger, more confident musicians. The bands' willingness to take risks and perform innovative and challenging symphonic literature has made them perennial favorites at the Regional Ratings Festival and other spring performances in West Virginia and surrounding states.

At Greenbrier East, we strongly believe that the success of the entire band program is dependent on, and reflected in the success of our Concert Band program.
