Things to know before High School...

Applying to High School(s)

Know: What High School do you want to go to?

Depending on where you live, the high school you would 'naturally' progress to is different. For those who live within the Gravenstein Union School District, that high school is likely West County High School.

However, some students may also apply to other high schools in the area based on their interests or if they live outside the area that would usually attend the Gravenstein Union School District.

Some examples of these other schools include:

  • Santa Rosa High School / ArtQuest at Santa Rosa High School

  • Piner High School / Culinary Arts Program / Health Science & Biotechnology Pathway / Early College Magnet /GeoSpatial Technology Program

  • Montgomery High School / IB Diploma Program at Mongomery High School

  • Maria Carrillo High School

  • Elsie Allen High School / University Center Program

  • Technology High School

  • Many Many More!

Know: What do you need to do to go to the High School of your choice?

Once you know which school you're applying to go to, or progressing into, spend time with their 'incoming/prospective student' pages on their websites. Maintain awareness of what the school's requirements are for applying and for your child to progress into that school.

  • Maintaining that awareness will support you in completing the enrollment requirements successfully, on-time, and within the deadlines, in addition to ensuring that you don't miss out on important dates such as required prospective student nights!

  • If you need a letter of recommendation from Hillcrest, make sure to ask 2 weeks prior to the deadline.
This will give us more time to work on your letter and to make sure it reflects all your hard work and those great Hillcrest Hawk Student qualities!
