Reminders to students:
Max time out of class: 10 minutes
Chill Pass is to be not be used first 10 minutes or last 10 minutes of class
This pass does not excuse tardiness or leaving class early
If you are not able to calm down in the 10 minutes, go to the counseling center or calm room to check in with a counselor or office staff and they will IM your teacher to let them know you need more time to self-regulate.
Reminders to teachers:
Students may need to use this resource more during the first part of the school year, but it will likely slow down over time. If you notice a regular pattern of a student using their chill pass, please pass that info along to the MTSS team to look at other interventions/supports the student may need.
Please let the MTSS team know if a specific student is abusing the above expectations or if you have questions about chill pass use in general. Remember our goal is to maintain relationships and students with chill passes tend to have a lot of anxiety around adults/asking for help. If you have concerns, please allow the student to use the pass when they request it and bring any concerns or questions you have to the MTSS team to address with the student.
