Examples:
I would like to grow professionally in foundational teaching skills.ย To do this, I plan to complete a coaching plan each quarter regarding: lesson design, lesson delivery, student engagement, behavior supports, or classroom culture.
I would like to grow my capacity in professional learning communities.ย To do this, I plan to: read Learning by Doing, complete the reflections at the end of each chapter, and work to implement strategies from the readings with my collaborative team during PLC.
I would like to grow professionally by learning to better support multilingual learners.ย To do this, I plan to: learn more about ELLevation, complete a minimum of 12 modules (or 3 pathways) this school year.
PG&E
You are REQUIRED to complete Professional Growth & Evaluation self-assessment and growth plan annually.ย You access PG&E on Frontline. Frontline can be accessed through the Focus as well as this link.ย ย
PG&E Evaluations
You will be assigned an administrator and have both a fall and spring evaluation.ย Admin will be in your room for multiple observations to collect data for your evaluations.
PG&E Self Assessment
You will take a self assessment on the GSD Educator Standards which include five standards: Learners & Learning, Instructional Design Clarity, Instructional Practice, Classroom Climate, and Professional Responsibility.
PG&E Growth Goal
Your growth goal should be aligned to a GSD Educator Standard that you self assessed lower on in your self assessment.ย Consider it like your own action research to see if a change in your practice makes a difference in the learning process of your students.
Remember, your HB396 goal may be one of your PG&E growth goals!ย
Examples:
1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.3, etc. Over the course of the school year, I will participate in at least three complete coaching cycles with my instructional coach, each focusing on a different element of my practice such as Lesson Design, Lesson Delivery, Classroom Culture, Behavior Supports, and/or Student Engagement.
4.1 I will implement at least two new strategies to teach and reinforce respectful academic conversation. I will measure success by administering a brief student survey at the beginning and end of the semester, aiming for a 15% increase in students' self-reported confidence in participating in respectful discussions. I will also document these strategies in my lesson plans and a reflection journal.
3.2 Over the course of the school year, I will establish a system for providing timely and specific feedback to students on their work, which will include offering at least two opportunities for revision on major projects and assignments each semester. I will track student-teacher feedback sessions and the number of students who revise their work. My success will be measured by an increase in the number of students who successfully demonstrate learning after a feedback loop, as well as qualitative student feedback collected through a brief survey at the end of each semester.
PG&E Stakeholder Goal
Your stakeholders are students and guardians.
Stakeholder Feedback should be collected by each teacher every semester they have new students.ย There are surveys available for you to collect data from your stakeholders.
You should look at the data you collected from the previous school year to make a PG&E Stakeholder goal. ย This means your goal may be focused on: Learning, Learning Environment, Respect, Directions, Expectations, Fair Treatment, Progress, Clarity, Classroom Management, Aide, Excitement for Learning, etc.
Examples:
Each semester, I will integrate three new differentiated strategies to provide targeted aid to students with diverse learning needs, as evidenced by improved student engagement and a 10% increase in class or group average scores on relevant assessments.
ย I will improve teacher clarity by explicitly stating and referring to learning objectives in 80% of my lessons, as measured by student self-assessment data and a 10% increase in student's ability to articulate the lesson's purpose when asked. I will use an "I can" statement format for the objectives.
If you are a first year teacher you may use the following goal since you do not have stakeholder feedback:
I will administer a brief student survey at the end of the each semester to gather input from my students.ย Based on the survey results each semester, I will identify one key area for improvement and one key strength.
Stakeholder Feedback should be collected by each teacher every semester they have new students.ย ย
