Under Proficiency-Based Learning, academic grades are a reflection of what students know and can do in relation to specific course standards. Behaviors and work habits are no longer included in the academic grade. Granite School District recognizes the importance of providing students and parents feedback on desired attributes, behaviors and work habits - the second "pillar" of Proficiency-Based Learning. As a result, Granite is revising current "citizenship" requirements and expectations to provide more constructive, specific feedback at all grade levels. The Graduate of Granite characteristics represent the ideal graduate of Granite School District and developing these social skills and dispositions supports a student's pursuit of academic proficiency.
