As we continue to experience wifi issues, Iβve been reporting them to the network team, however the lack of details makes it extremely difficult to determine if the issue is related to the global issue, or if itβs something else. When reporting a wifi issue we need the following information to ensure the issue is being diagnosed and reported correctly:
Β
How many students are experiencing the issue?
What time was the issue experienced?
What were the students accessing, or trying to access?
What network are they connecting to, ie GSDX or GSDGuest?
What is the chromebooks mac address?
Β
Collecting a mac address:
Click the wifi icon
Click the connection
Click the connection again
Scroll to the bottom of the window to find mac address.
Open up the Microsoft Edge browser
Click on the Windows start button
type in "Edge" then click to launch when it appears
Click on the 'GSD Links' folder in the bookmarks bar at the top, then 'Printers', and, finally, 'Printers for Secondary Schools'
Click the NAME of the printer you want to add
Networked printers are named according to the room they are in
The last section of characters is for the model of printer
Click the 'Connect' link in the left-hand menu of the printer and confirm
Click the 'All Printers' link in the left-hand menu to return to the list
To add a printer, go to Microsoft Edge.Β Click GSD Links, then Printers for Secondary Schools.Β Double click on the name of the printer you'd like to add.Β Under printer actions, click Connect.
