"In all subjects and courses, students should be given numerous and varied opportunities to demonstrate the full extent of their achievement of the curriculum expectations" (Growing Success, p.17).

All subjects should begin with diagnostics to get to know your learners in an ongoing manner.

The writing teams who worked on diagnostic assessment pieces for Science, Math and Literacy this summer focussed on designing diagnostics specifically for gaining an understanding of the students as learners, their academic abilities, and also their content knowledge. As we move forward, we will need to recognize that there will be large gaps in content knowledge. Understanding our learners and getting them excited about the course will serve everyone as we move forward together.
