When programming for a specific course, consider starting with the Essential Learnings as a guide for instruction and diagnostic assessment. The Essential Learnings from a prior course will provide an outline of key concepts that were prioritized in the Spring of 2020. They may also help educators by highlighting which overall expectations to prioritize in their current courses.

The Diagnostic Assessments were developed as a tool to be incorporated throughout a period of learning. There are questions and activities designed to facilitate conversation in order to gather data about potential gaps. Students may not be aware that they are participating in a diagnostic assessment, but their answers will allow teachers to make any necessary changes in delivery of new content.

In April of 2020, a team of TVDSB math teachers priortized a list of 'Essential Learnings' for each secondary course. These lists were designed as a guideline for Emergency Remote Learning.

The folder is organized with a Google doc for each course.

Diagnostic Assessments

In the summer of 2020, we engaged a team of Secondary math teachers develop to diagnostic assessment tools to support their colleagues upon return-to-school in the fall. The collaboration amongst educators was effective in gaining a variety of perspectives and strategies.

The tools are based on the Essential Learnings from the PRIOR course (see above).

During Emergency Remote Learning in the Spring of 2020, math educators across TVDSB collated a number of helpful resources. The list includes apps and tools for online learning as well as tutorial videos.
