Hair Styling and Aesthetics

For Hair Styling and Aesthetics SDCI offers three courses. TXJ 2O, which is the grade 10 class, TXJ 3E, which is the grade 11 class and TXJ 4E, which is the grade 12 class. Each of these classes will explore hair styling and aesthetics from a salon/spa perspective teaching the students what to expect when considering this career path. As you progress through the different levels of each course students will take what they've learned in previous classes to expand their skills and knowledge.

Students will get a chance to learn everything from basic hair styling which includes curling, blow drying and shampooing techniques all the way up to colouring and cutting hair at the grade 12 level. Students will learn all aspects of hair as well as units including manicuring, nails, skin care, facials, simple makeup techniques working up to special effects (sfx) makeup and body paint. Including all these different aspects helps students get a feel for all and gives the students lots of opportunities. It helps students decide what part of the field they may want to continue their career in.
