Green Industries

SDCI offers three courses relating to green industries. THJ 2O, which is the grade 10 class, THJ 3E, which is the grade 11 and THJ 4E, which is the grade 12 class. Each of these classes will explore all kinds of areas that fall under green industries as well as showing the students what they may expect when considering this career path. As you progress through the different levels of each course students will take what they've learned in previous classes to expand their skills and knowledge.

This course introduces students to the various sectors of the green industries including agriculture, forestry, horticulture, floristry, and landscaping. Using materials, processes, and techniques commonly used in the industry, students will participate in a number of hands-on projects that may include plant production, maintenance, and harvesting activities; the development of floral or landscaping designs; and related construction activities. Students will also develop an awareness of environmental and societal issues related to green industry activities and learn about safe and healthy working practices.
