Below are a few items for your information.
Personal Devices - We are encouraging any students with a personal device (Chromebook, laptop, etc. - not just a phone) to bring it in to use at school. We do have a full set of Chromebooks available for each grade level, but we have two classes in each grade.
Access to Google Classrooms - All of the subjects I teach have been set up with Google classrooms and Guardian Summaries have been enabled. Please take advantage of this feature. Info provided by Google is below.
All major assignments and grade activities for this year have been planned since June, 2022. They are all available to look over on our website and a calendar of the dates is below.
Mandatory performance dates:
King Lear Dress Rehearsals - Friday January 27th & 30th, 2023.
King Lear Performances (4 shows) - Wednesday February 1st and Friday February 3rd, 2023 - 1:30pm & 7pm.
Original Show Dress Rehearsals - Thursday May 11th & Friday, May 12th, 2023.
Original Show Performances (12 shows) - Monday, May 15th to Thursday, May 18th - 10am, 1:30pm & 7pm.
Choral Celebration - Thursday, June 8th, 2023.

As a guardian, you can get email summaries about your student’s activity in Classroom. Email summaries do not include grades. For grades, ask your student or contact the teacher.
In email summaries, you can review:
Missing work—Work not turned in when the summary was sent.
Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails).
Class activities—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers.

Rob Cairns is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Music where he received both his Honours Bachelor and Masters degrees, and Althouse College where he completed his Education degree. Prior to this he attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, graduating in Technical Theatre. While at University he was presented with both the Albert Winslow Award in Choral Conducting and the Don Wright Scholarship in Vocal Music. Rob is presently a teacher at the, Lester B. Pearson School for the Arts in London, Ontario where he specializes in Vocal Music and Drama. As a conductor he works with Pearson’s grade 7 school choir, the grade 8 school choir, the Pearson Singers - a grade 4 to 8 auditioned choir, and Twelve - a group of select senior students who are given the opportunity to work on vocal pieces at a very high level of artistry. He also conducts the St. Thomas Youth Choir and the St. Thomas Children's Choir. The Youth Choir regularly tour overseas to participate in international choral festivals. In drama Rob works with the grade 7 and grade 8's. Last year the grade 8's staged, "Romeo & Juliet" by Shakespeare, and this year they will be performing "King Lear" from January 31st to February 3rd, 2023. Outside of school Rob performs as tenor soloist on various concert series in the southern Ontario area and is the tenor soloist and director of the four handbells choirs at Metropolitan United Church. The main handbell group is the Jubilate Bells. As well, Rob is the President of the Ontario Guild of English Handbell Ringers.
