This year's Choral Celebration is on Thursday June 16th, 2022. It will be live-streamed and premiere at 7:00pm. We will record it on the afternoon of the 16th at school.
Graduation is on the evening of Monday June 26th 2023, beginning at 7:00pm in the gym at Pearson.
On the morning of the 26th it is important for the students to be at school for the grad rehearsal. We want them to all to be comfortable with the sequence of events so that there are no “embarrassing moments”. If the girls are wearing high-heeled shoes, they should bring them to the rehearsal to practice on the stairs. The rehearsal usually ends at about 12:15, so please do not schedule hair appointments, etc. prior to this time.
Traditionally the grade 8's have used the afternoon to prepare for graduation. If they are not going to be at school that afternoon they need a note to be excused, or they must be signed out at the office. For students remaining that afternoon, we will finish the set up for the evening’s activities.
Students are asked to arrive no later than 6:45pm at the school. Most students arrive between 6:15pm and 6:30pm so that they have an opportunity to take pictures with their friends.
At 6:50pm they are to gather in Music A to prepare for their entrance to the ceremony.
The graduation ceremony begins at 7:00pm and lasts for a little over an hour. During this time there will be opportunities to take pictures as they receive their diplomas, and at the end for a group photograph after they sing.
There is no limit to the number of people who can attend the graduation ceremony, but we do only have seating for about 150 people. If you have more than 3 people attending some will need to stand so that all can enjoy the ceremony.
After the grads recess there will be a reception at the back of the gym hosted by the grade 7 parents.
The Grad party will take place at the Lamplighter Inn on Wellington Street. In the past the students have hired a D.J. and had the event catered.

Because this event has taken place off school property, a group of parents has supervised this activity. If you are able to help out please contact Mr. Cairns.
The grad ceremony usually ends about 8:05pm, with the reception lasting about a half an hour. Students then depart for the grad party about 8:45pm.
Students have usually car pooled to the grad party.
The room rental goes until 12:00 midnight, so the party has usually ended between 11:30pm and 11:45pm.
With regard to dress for the evening:
We encourage the students to dress comfortably for the evening and not to go to great expense. We remind them that this is only a grade 8 graduation and there are more graduations to come in their future. Along the same lines, activities such as limousine rentals are something we have suggested as best left until they are a bit older.
The day after Graduation the grade 8's perform their last assembly as a student at Pearson. This assembly is organized by the students themselves. Past performances have proven to be quite moving. The assembly takes place on Tuesday June 27th, 2023 in the Pearson Gym at 1:30pm. All are welcome to attend.
For both Graduation and for the Yearbook we ask that each student send in a baby picture. We will scan this picture and send it back to you. Or if you would prefer, you can email a scan in to the school. Please make sure to have the student's name as the file name if you email in the scan.
Each year the Grade 8's produce their own yearbook. As you can well imagine with the visual art talent we have available this yearbook is exceptionally well done! The cost for this yearbook is $20 dollars.
