The Rainbow Club
Welcome to the Rainbow Club!!
We are excited to offer a Rainbow Club this year at HPCE! The Rainbow Club is an all-gender inclusive club for grade 5 students at Hammonds Plains Consolidated School. Membership is with parent permission only. The Rainbow Club meets at grade 5 lunch on Thursdays (12:10 to 1:10pm).
This club is for Grade 5 students who want to get together to talk about respect, diversity, inclusion, and healthy relationships. This is essentially a group for students who are interested in social justice issues and who would like to help make HPCE the safest, healthiest, most inclusive place possible. The topics discussed in this club will be related to the Grade 5 Health Curriculum Outcomes, but will be explored in much more experiential ways. Another benefit of this club will be the opportunity for students in both French Immersion and English programs to interact, collaborate, and build connections with each other.
Students who join this group will participate in lively, interesting conversation and activities. There will be opportunities to use and develop artistic skills in the creation of posters or other art. Students will also have the opportunity to develop self advocacy skills, leadership skills, and critical thinking skills. Critical thinking will be encouraged and opportunities for leadership will be offered.
Rainbow Club Pride Heart Painting
This was a work of HeART! All members worked together, taking turns, painting each section of this original Progress Pride Heart. This will be hung in our cafeteria in the fall of 2023.
