COVID-19 Food Box program

A short-term initiative that provides home delivery of food to Nova Scotians who need food support and can't get to a food bank or other food support program. Anyone facing this situation can call 211 on weekdays between 8am and 8pm and they’ll help determine if this program is a good fit.

If the family is in receipt of Income Assistance and received a pink slip, the deadline fo​r that support is November 6th.

For those who do not receive Income Assistance, the deadline for the application for support is November 10th.

  • The Salvation Army Christmas Assistance 2020 Halifax Regional Municipality

The Salvation Army Maritime Division provides Christmas assistance, such as toys and food support, for children and families in need.

NS Home Heating Assistance Rebate

The Heating Assistance Rebate Program helps low-income Nova Scotians with the cost of home heating. Rebates range from $100 to $200. You can apply until 31 March 2021. You can receive up to $200 if you qualify for the Heating Assistance Rebate Program.

  • The St. Margaret’s Bay Food Bank is still servicing those who are in need of food support. If you would like this support please call 902-826-9272 to make an appointment. Once the appointment is made (which has been same day so far) you show up with your own reusable bags or boxes and collect your items.
