In the UAE, it is estimated that as many as 1 in 5 people have the condition, with the number expected to double by 2040.

Beyond working on the diagnosis and treatment plan for diabetic patients, healthcare providers work on ensuring that community members are aware of this lifestyle disease and how it can be prevented through lifestyle changes. 

Pharmacists play a role in this by ensuring that key information about diabetes and its prevention and management is accessible to all community members. 

Students can improve their communication skills and increase their cultural awareness and emotional intelligence by interacting with the community members
