Important vocabulary:
A green screen effect is when you overlay still images with video that creates a look and feel of you being in a different space or time.
Materials:
A portable green or blue screen
A bright green or blue wall
A bright green of blue shower curtain or table cloth that you can tape to a wall
• The Green Screen or iMovie app on a phone or iPad
Steps to creating a Green Screen effect with Green Screen app:
Step 1: Use the camera application to record your movie. Make sure you select the video tab before recording.
Step 2: Use an internet browser to find images for your background and save them to your camera roll. Or take images you want for your background using the camera app in the Photo mode.
Step 3: Now open Green Screen app
Select the + button to create a new Green Screen Project .
When you select the new project button you will see a timeline and 3 + buttons at the bottom.
Step 4: When you select each of the + buttons you will have an option to choose photos or videos or work straight from the camera
Use the middle section to add your green screen video
Use can use the top layer top add a Green Screen prop and place it in your video and make a path for it.
Step 5: Use the play arrow at the bottom to play your video and the cut, trim and split options to edit any of your items.Be sure to select the item you wish to edit in the timeline first .
Step 6: When done click the export video option at the top to save your green screen project to the camera roll.
Steps to creating a Green Screen effect with iMovie:
Step 1: Begin with Steps 1 and 2 above to get your movie content ready
Click on the + button at the top right of the screen
• Select the photos from your camera roll, choose the media button at the bottom of the screen and select photos. Sequence the photos in the timeline at the bottom of the movie screen. Just select each 1 and hit the + button to move it into the timeline
• Then select the media button at the bottom of the screen again and choose the video that you recorded in front of the green screen. When you choose the video select it using the ... option and Green/Screen tab not the + button
• iMovie will then place the video above the images in the timeline and merge the 2 so that your movie is in front of the images.
• You can then add music or sound effects using the media and audio options
• When Done hit the Done button at top left of screen
• You can then play your green screen movie from here or export it to your camera roll using the buttons at the bottom of the screen
Challenge Activity: Choose a space on your game board that will send players to your green screen video to give them information about your game theme or send them to another space on the board. You might combine the use of your green screen video as an overlay for an Aura.
