Year 5

On Friday, October 3, 2025, it was Year 5's turn to show what we have learned from our unit “How We Express Ourselves” during the Primary Assembly. In this unit, we learned about how creative expression and communication may thrive through diverse media. Since the media we were focusing on was a movie, at the end of the unit, Year 5 students were working collaboratively with Visual Arts and Music to create a movie.

In the assembly, each group provided a short explanation about their movies and showed a trailer to the audience. After the last group showed their trailer, the assembly was closed with a capoeira performance that came from collaboration with the PE department. 

As part of the introductory activities for our current unit, “How the World Works,” which focuses on the central idea “Humans use their understanding of scientific forces to create and solve problems,” the Year 5 students went on a field trip to Dunia Fantasi theme park in Ancol, North Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 23, 2025. The purpose of this trip was to help students observe and understand how different scientific forces, such as spring force, gravity, magnetism, and friction, are applied in real-life situations.

At Dunia Fantasi, the Year 5 students explored various rides, observing and identifying the simple machine principles behind each one while taking notes, documenting their findings, and enjoying some of the attractions.
