The IB learner profile is one of the elements that run through all of the IB programmes. It consists of 10 attributes that bring the IB mission statement to life. It is also through the development of these 10 attributes that our students and community can ensure we are achieving our Global Jaya vision and mission.
The attributes of the learner profile:
While these attributes are embedded into the various learning engagements and activities at school, they look very different in Kindergarten compared to Year 6, or even Year 12. Teachers examine age-appropriate strategies for engaging students in the development of attributes and the use of learner profile language. However, we also invite our parents to support the development of the learner profile attributes at home.
At a PYP parent workshop on Friday 22nd November, parents were reintroduced to the attributes; they examined why they are important, the definition of each one, and how they are embedded in the curriculum framework. Parents also collaborated to come up with ideas of how they could support their own child/ren’s learner profile attribute development.
The link below provides you with access to the presentation from the parent workshop, the ideas of the parent’s who attended and some additional information about the learner profile. I would also like to encourage Primary parents to follow the Kontak articles from our Secondary Principal, Pak Steve, as he will be focusing on one attribute each month throughout the school year.

Over the past few weeks, several students currently studying in the faculty of Education Sciences at the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta participated in an internship programme in the Primary School.
During their internship, the university students explored many different aspects of teaching and learning in an international school context. They also learnt how different cultures work together to provide the best educational experiences for the students.
We were very happy to be able to provide such a great learning opportunity for these students and hope their experiences at Global Jaya will further enhance their understanding of good education practices. We wish the students well with their studies and hope that one day they will be amongst the many great educators in Indonesia.
