Curriculum Coordinators and Admin from across the Primary and Secondary school spent a fascinating two-day training session on the 26th and 27th November with Nigel Forbes-Harper, an outside consultant that Global Jaya has worked with in the past. The focus of our sessions was on how to build better teams and as a result, improve and impact on student learning. Training sessions can always be daunting, with the fear of being sat in front of a powerpoint and spoken at for hours on end. The inside teacher joke of “death by powerpoint” can sadly be a reality. It was a great relief that Nigel was both engaging and thought provoking but undoubtedly this was fed by the great attitude and collaboration of our staff, which led to some amazing interaction and even roles plays.
For me, the greatest takeaway from the session was the focus on diversity and making the most of all the differences in your team. Accepting that everyone is different but that is actually your strength. The other areas that I felt were excellent was when Nigel challenged us not to say “what we will do” but “how we will do it”. Actual practical applications and actions rather than intentions. I feel all staff will have left the sessions with some valuable skills for themselves, had an opportunity to mix with other members of staff and to pass on what they have learnt to others. I hope to see the impact of this across the school as after all the parents, students and teachers are one big team.
On the 7th and 8th of November, we invite prospective parents to come to our school. The turnout of the event was good with hundreds of parents come to our school checking out the facilities and registered their kids. In case you or someone you know missed the open day and want to get a school tour and detailed explanation of Global Jaya School from the info session, worry not, please contact us at admission@globaljaya.com or call us at 021 - 7457562.
Almost 300 young swimmers from 23 schools competed at Global Jaya School Swim Meet on 2nd November. The competition was divided into 4 different age groups, all of the young swimmers challenged themselves beating their own records. We would like to thanks all participants, coaches, and parents who have took time to come to our campus and support our event. See you at our next Swim Meet!
Global Jaya School, working together with Kidpublish held the first 4D Ancient Cities Quiz. Over 20 teams from 3 schools competed in their knowledge of ancient Rome, Greece, Egypt, and China using National Geographic 4D Puzzles.
The contestants admitted that learning using 4D puzzle was a fun and engaging way to learn about ancient civilization. In the end, they received their own copy of the National Geographic 4D puzzles set.
