Wow!! Now we are at the end of the 2021- 2022 academic year. There were so many changes that happened due to the pandemic situation. As one of the elements that support teaching and learning, Library has also made some changes to adjust our services. We launched the drive-through services to accommodate support for teaching and learning so that everyone in the school still has access to our collection. Thank you to our students, parents, principals, teachers, and staff for your sustained support and flexibility in all the changes in the library.
In the next academic year, we will continue adding our collection and giving our best services to the Global Jaya School community. If you would like to explore our library collections and see what items are available, please look at our online catalogue and log in with Global Jaya’s Google account to access the resources, e.g., username@student.globaljaya.com. Also, we would like to inform you all that library will add more online resources such as eBooks so that everyone can get more advantages from library services.
Have a wonderful and restful holiday, and stay connected to our library through our Instagram @gjs_library.
On Monday, May 30th, Y6 students had two days experienced in becoming secondary students. One of the highlights was visiting the library 2nd floor, designated for secondary students. We welcome the Y6 students by taking them for a mini-tour, explaining library rules, and showing them the book collection. We also gave DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification) lessons to the students.
There was a range of games in the next session: Bingo games and an Online quiz (Blooket). In the Bingo games, each student needs to find five books that represent a different category chosen by the library staff by finding the book directly on the bookshelf. It was nice to see the students exploring all the sections on the shelf, starting from fiction books to Encyclopedia.
Our second game was Blooket. Each student answered the questions that Ibu Hellena prepared on Blooket about “Academic Honesty”. Students were happy and excitedly competitive with each other to accomplish the games. This is a good starting point for the students once they reach Year 7 because academic honesty and citation are their task/assignment requirements.
We’ll see you again next academic year!
