In a captivating and hands-on science lesson, Year 4 students delved into the intricacies of tectonic plate movements and their profound impact on human life on Earth. The ingenious use of lotus biscuits as a representation of tectonic plates and strawberry yogurt to symbolize magma turned a conventional classroom into an interactive geological kitchen. As the students manipulated the lotus biscuits on their desks, mimicking the dynamic interactions between Earth's tectonic plates, they gained a tangible understanding of the forces that shape new lands, form continents, cause earthquakes and create mountains.
The lesson not only brought abstract geological concepts to life but also sparked insightful discussions on the repercussions of tectonic activity on human civilizations. From earthquakes to volcanic eruptions, students explored the direct and indirect effects of plate movements, fostering a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance that sustains life on Earth. This creative approach to teaching not only engaged students in a memorable learning experience but also highlighted the significance of hands-on activities in making complex scientific principles accessible and enjoyable.
For the first time, the Year 4 students became Petugas Upacara for Upacara Bendera on Monday, November 27th, 2023. They got new experiences by becoming Pemimpin Upacara, Pengibar Bendera, MC, Dirigen, Pembawa Teks Pancasila, and Choir members. They showed the IB learner profile attributes of risk-takers.

In our fourth-grade assembly in November, we created a fun and educational game show titled "Are You Smarter Than a Fourth Grader?" The assembly brought together teachers and students in a lighthearted, spin-off competition to determine who possessed a better grasp of the knowledge imparted during our most recent Unit of Inquiry (UOI) on Natural Resources.. This unique approach not only made the learning culmination enjoyable but also encouraged collaboration and camaraderie among students and teachers alike.
The assembly was closed with a rendition of "Let it Grow" from the Lorax movie, a delightful touch that connected us with the UOI theme. As we collectively sang the lyrics, the assembly became a harmonious reminder of the impact each individual can have on preserving and nurturing our natural resources. This creative approach to raise awareness left a lasting impression, emphasizing the interconnectedness of knowledge and the importance of applying it in real-world contexts.
