PICNIC DAY IN KINDERGARTEN
It is not every day that Kindergarten students are spotted bringing Indonesia’s traditional snacks to school. Indonesia has many delicious snacks, and our Kindergarteners had the opportunity to taste them during our Picnic Day!
This picnic activity was part of our learning, where the kindergarteners were introduced to their cultural background. They learnt about which city in Indonesia their parents come from, and which traditional snacks are from there.
The snacks included Kue Cucur, Bika Ambon, Sosis Solo, Bolu Kukus, Rengginang, Pempek, Pie Susu, Onde-onde, Celorot, Jentik Manis, Kue Lapis Pepe, and many more. A BIG thanks to our Kindergarten Parents who were willing to help the students prepare the traditional snacks from home.
Kindergarten’s First Assembly
On Friday, 8 December, the Kindergarten students did their very first assembly performance in Global Jaya. They showcased their understanding of our unit of inquiry ‘Who We Are’. In the performance, the students were divided into two groups. The first group talked about who they are as human beings who grow from babies to children, while the second group talked about who they are as students who are able to learn at school.
It took three weeks of practice for the students to speak and sing the songs. The song ‘Dua Mata Saya’ was chosen to represent the students as humans who have body parts to be taken care of. While the second song, ‘Taman Kanak-Kanak’ was chosen to represent them as Kindergarten students who are learning and playing together at school.
