Cooperation is Key!
On completion of our inquiry into forces and movements, under the transdisciplinary theme ‘How the World Works’ the students discovered we use forces and movements in our everyday lives. As the culmination activity for the unit, the Year 1 students were asked to work together in small groups to create a carnival-themed game to present during our Force and Movement Carnival.
The students had to develop their Communication Skills by practising active listening when they listened respectfully to the ideas of their friends. They were able to speak confidently when sharing their ideas within the group and when practising what they would say to the visitors at the carnival. In order to create the carnival-themed game, the students had to practice their Social skills by being respectful to others, sharing materials, taking turns and helping each other to complete their shared goal.
By working cooperatively and collaboratively, the Year 1 students achieved their goal and created a Forces and Movement Carnival that was enjoyed by the whole school community.
Teamwork really does Make the dream Work
and it was a wonderful way to end the semester!
