For the 3rd unit of inquiry related to inventions of the past and present, Year 2 conducted a juice experiment to investigate how inventions have changed people's lives using the scientific method. The activity involved students making juice by hand, making juice using Nutrisari and getting juice from a bottle. During the experiment, they needed to observe what they saw, smelled, and tasted when making juice in different ways. In conclusion, students gave their perspective on which juice they would rather have and why, and also made connections between how different technology in juice making has impacted people's lives.
Students visited the GJS timeline in the auditorium to learn about how we record changes over time. Students used their observation skills to observe how our school timeline looks. With prompts provided, students observed and considered: What does this look like? What do you notice? What information does the timeline have? What do you notice about the years? What is the structure of the timeline? If you had to put something on the timeline for 2023, what would you put on the timeline? Students then recorded their observations and thoughts. Students were knowledgeable in this activity and showed curiosity about what our school will look like in the coming years.
