This is the first year for us as Secondary students, and we have many new things to know and learn about! In our first year as Secondary students we have to learn about the Middle Years Programme (MYP), all of the different subjects that are new to us, as well as get to know each of our teachers, students in our year group and the Secondary school community.
Starting our journey as Secondary students has been made more difficult during Home Based Learning. As we are each learning from our homes, and we are not able to meet our friends and teachers in person, we feel lonely. It is also difficult for many of us to manage our time and priorities during HBL.
Thankfully, the support from parents, teachers, staff, and the Global Jaya community helps us to have enjoyable and meaningful learning experiences. Our parents often support us by making sure that we have the technology and the internet connection that we need in order to access HBL. Our teachers are always there to guide us and to clarify if we have questions about a task or don’t understand a topic. We can also use the weekly Wellbeing Thermometer to share any concerns and let the teachers know if we need help.
We are all really excited to think about a time, hopefully soon, when we might be able to see our friends and teachers in person. We can’t wait to get to know each other better and to share our experiences with each other.
We look forward to the pandemic ending quickly, but in the meantime we have learned how to take care and support each other as a Global Jaya community.
