Year 3 KONTAK December 2020
The Culmination Project
The fabulous Year 3 students have been working hard for several weeks to plan, create, build and finish their culmination project. Under the transdisciplinary theme Sharing the Planet, students applied their research skills and developed their communication skills.
Students describe the characteristics and relationships in a particular biome and the impact of human activities have on a specific biome and suggestions for a less damaging activity (tundra, taiga, tropical rainforest, desert, ocean/marine/aquatic, arctic, grassland, temperate deciduous forest). They were enthusiastic about preparing all the materials to make their dioramas and posters. To promote student agency, they were allowed to choose their favourite biome to present. They explained the characteristics of their favourite biome, the food web within the biome and how human activities impact the environment (positively and negatively).
Furthermore, through this activity, we hope students applied their knowledge and understanding to make better choices to take care of the environment through simple and meaningful action.
Biome Visual Museum
Year 3 students and teachers proudly present our first Visual Museum. Pak Rully, the ICT Coordinator, supported us to make this Visual Museum. We worked collaboratively to make this happen. Students did their parts to prepare, create and present their dioramas and posters. Teachers met online and dedicated their time to make this happen.
We welcome you to visit the Year 3 Biome Visual Museum. You will find interesting information about various biomes displayed artistically and creatively. Have a great time, and enjoy your visit!
The First Online Assembly
There is another memorable and successful event that happened in Year 3. On Friday, October 23, for the first time, we had our online assembly. All students and teachers contributed before, during and after the assembly. There are 6 students in turns per class who performed their talents. Some of them performed as musicians, singers, illustrators, presenters and much more. We are amazed by their hidden talents as well as their academic skills.
The Online Youth Pledge Ceremony
In order to commemorate the importance of Youth Pledge, Year 3 students gathered on Friday, 6th November. We listened carefully to the teacher’s presentation regarding the history of the Youth Pledge in Indonesia. It was 28th October 1928 when around 700 brave representatives of Youth gathered in Jakarta. They held the Youth conference to agree that Indonesia is one homeland, one nation and one language.
According to that, as students and teachers, we agreed to act respectfully, work collaboratively, appreciate, tolerance and be open-minded to the differences amongst us.
