Year 2 came back to school with great excitement! Under the transdisciplinary theme “How We Organize Ourselves”, we explored communities and the people in them. A community is a group of people who are in the same place that have different roles to support each other. Do you know that you can be in more than one community with different roles at once? For example, when you are at home, you are a son/daughter, at school you are a student, and outside the school you could also be an ice-skater!
Becoming familiar with the roles of people in our school community is also important. Therefore, Year 2 had a “Training Day” where they got to experience being a: principal, secretary, janitor, librarian, gardener, security guard, and cafeteria staff member. This experience has helped us to understand different roles in the school community and how everybody supports each other. Through this experience, not only do we become better communicators, more responsible, and caring, but also we become more knowledgeable, open-minded, and respectful. We are all a part of the Global Jaya School community!
