Dear Community Members,
On behalf of the GJS Faculty and Staff, We welcome all community members to a new school year! Whether you are a new or returning student, parent or faculty member of Global Jaya, we wish you all an enjoyable, safe and successful school year.
August’s highlights included class assemblies and celebrations, on-campus sporting competitions, World Scholar’s Cup, our annual Independence Day celebrations and our first evacuation drill. Please read this edition of the Kontak for further details. If you missed last month's Kontak and our introduction to our newest faculty members, please click HERE. All past Kontak editions are archived HERE for those who are interested.
Regarding calendars and communication: Managebac is our primary platform for teacher-to-student and teacher-to-parent communication. We encourage parents to clarify issues and to keep emails and phone numbers up-to-date on Managebac. If you have a change in contact information, please email the specific section: Primary: Ibu Imas (imas@globaljaya.com) and Secondary: Ibu Nina (nina_a@globaljaya.com). Thank you for your cooperation and attention. Please watch the following informative video tutorial for a step-by-step explanation of setting up your Managebac account on your device.
Our 2022-2023 Academic Calendar can be viewed on our school website HERE or downloaded through this LINK. Please check the dates of holidays and ensure your families return for the school days planned. In addition, we do not recommend leaving early before breaks; many planned classes and activities require students to participate and cooperate in teams and display their commitment and spirit. We have numerous House Team events throughout the school year. It’s a strong tradition at GJS, and all students and teachers are proud to wear their colours: Elang (Green), Garuda (Red) and Rajawali (Blue).
We have two other calendars available to view online: the Events Calendar, HERE and our Athletics and Activities Calendar, HERE. We encourage families to view planned events and support academic, special and sporting events over the school year. The Principals in each section may be contacted for more information or clarification; Pak Jon (jonathong@globaljaya.com) will respond to queries regarding athletics and activities. We hope the first month of school has resulted in a positive experience. We welcome any feedback to help the school improve the start-up of an academic year.
Today, we are 655 students, 112 teachers and assistants, 35 support faculty and 23 nationalities strong at Global Jaya School. We have enrolled a total of 119 new students, representing 108 families, and welcomed six new educators into our community so far for this academic year. We are pleased to serve you and help your child(ren) reach their full potential and individual goals and dreams.
Again, we welcome the 2022-23 school year and congratulate our community for supporting a great start. Enjoy the Kontak and Go Hawks!
Warm regards,
Cory Carson
