On Thursday, August 8th, 2024, for UOI I “Who We Are,” we conducted our provocation in order to garner the student’s interest in our upcoming unit. For this provocation, the class watched the movie “Inside Out” and were asked to keep in mind the main lessons from the movie and to relate them to our upcoming unit as much as they could. We then answered reflection questions about the movie and had a discussion about our main take-aways. We had some rather profound insights into emotions, how they can affect us, and how they can affect relationships with the people around us.
On Wednesday 21st, August 2024, Year 3 has a guest speaker, Ibu Firesta Farizal. She is a counselor here in Jakarta. The theme that she discussed was “Be a Better Friend: Knowing Your Friends More”
She came as highly recommended by Year 3 parent and school counselor Ibu Ninggar. She also did activities called “Zip, Zap, Zop” and “Find A Friend Through A Bingo Game,” in which we all learned more about our peers and teachers. For the final activity, we also wrote a letter to one of our friends and wrote positive things about them.
To conclude the activity, Ibu Firesta said that we needed to enjoy every moment with our friends and make sure nobody felt left out. We were very happy to have had this learning experience with her. Thank you, Ibu Firesta, for sharing your knowledge with us!
Kami sangat bersemangat saat mengikuti upacara memperingati hari kemerdakaan Indonesia di sekolah pada hari Senin, 19 Austus 2024. Kami menyaksikan kegiatan pengibaran bendera, pembacaan Naskah Proklamasi, Pembukaan Undang-Undang Dasar 1945 dan Pancasila, mendengarkan pidato dari kakak secondary, serta pembacaan doa.
Setelah kegiatan upacara kami kembali ke kelas dan berganti baju dengan nuansa merah-putih. Lalu, kami mendengarkan penjelasan, menonton video, dan berdiskusi tentang hal yang berkaitan dengan peristiwa kemerdekaan Indonesia di kelas. Kami menyimak dengan saksama pada saat itu. Kemudian, kami melakukan permainan Kahoot yang berkaitan dengan peristiwa kemerdekaan. Guru kami menyediakan 13 pertanyaan yag harus kami jawab dengan cepat dan tepat. Kami sangat berantusias untuk dapat menjawab pertanyaan, saat melakukan permainan ini. Pemenang dari permainan peringkat satu sampai lima mendapatkan hadiah. Menang atau kalah, tidak masalah bagi kami. Yang terpenting kami mendapatkan pengetahuan tentang sejarah kemerdekaan bangsa Indonesia.
Setelah itu, kami mengikuti kegiatan pilihan. Kami diminta untuk memilih 2 dari 6 kegiatan yang disediakan oleh guru kami. Kegiatan tersebut adalah
Menggambar tentang kemerdekaan
Menulis puisi atau cerita tentang kemerdekaan.
Membuat rantai merah-putih dari kertas minyak.
Membuat bendera merah putih dari kertas minyak.
Membuat kipas merah putih dari kertas.
Membuat anyaman merah putih dari kertas origami.
Kami sangat berantusias saat melakukan kegiatan tersebut. Kami belum boleh membawa pulang karya kami karena karya kami masih dijadikan pajangan di shared area.
In Year 3, there is a cumulative assessment (final project) for writing each unit in English. The students create a mind map (plan) for their writing, do a rough draft in their English writing books in order to practice their handwriting and do a final draft on Google Docs. We will do two persuasive writing pieces in this unit, one formative in order to practice and one cumulative. Students will create arguments about topics they are passionate about. Students have learned and used Google Classroom smoothly in the past four weeks. If parents would like to see what the teaching/ learning looks like in year 3, this would be a good place to periodically look at your children’s work. They have learned how to access the stream, access the classwork, find and do their assignments, and turn in their assignments.
