That day, April 21, the school looked different from usual. Almost all the female students wore colorful kebaya, while the male students wore batik shirts. The upacara field was decorated with posters of R.A. Kartini. That day was Kartini Day.
Year 5 students were very excited to be the upacara officer. All the officers were female students. Emma gave a speech about Kartini's struggle. Before performing, all the officers looked nervous. With confidence, the upacara cofficers could finally carry out their duties in front of their friends and teachers. Everyone applauded enthusiastically.
In addition to the celebration, a fashion show was held in the theater building. All students learned that Kartini was not only a female hero but also a symbol of courage, education, and hope.
At the end of the event, the Year 5 students said, "The spirit of Kartini must live in all of us. Women and men must support each other to become a great generation."
Year 5 held Unit 5 culminating activities, 'Who We Are' from 21 April to 30 2025 in class time. This activity aims to share knowledge and ideas for healthy oneself, which includes physical, mental, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual health.
All Year 5 students work in groups according to their health focus. They create various activities to support the health elements they want to achieve. Group members share responsibilities during the process, including bringing the necessary equipment.
The target of this activity is all Year 5 students. After running various activities, students felt happy, comfortable, and enthusiastic about their daily activities.
As part of our Earth Day celebrations, eight secondary students who are members of Friends of the Library run an activity related to Earth Day with the Year 5 students.
The session was a two-day activity: (1) Reading Activity on April 23, 2025, from 12.30-12.55, and (2) Recycling activity on April 24, 2025, from 12.30-12.55. Activities on both days were conducted in class.
The first activity is a storytelling and reading activity. The secondary students read an Earth Day-themed book aloud and led a short discussion and simple activity to help Year 5 think about sustainability and caring for the environment.
The second activity is Recycling used t-shirts into useful items such as shopping bags. Year 5 students seemed enthusiastic about this activity. At the end of the program, we took pictures of our work. We hope there will be many similar activities for Earth Day celebrations in the future. Thank you, Friends of the Library.
