Exploring 2D and 3D shapes can be a delightful experience! Our Reception students turned these shapes into a variety of creative masterpieces. Ranging from simple circles and squares to complex hexagons and octagons, each shape offers a unique chance for exploration and discovery.
Through engaging, hands-on activities, the students enhanced their spatial awareness and problem-solving skills while enjoying themselves. For example, with colorful paper, students cut out different shapes to create imaginative projects like a castle or a dinosaur. They also utilized recycled boxes to bring their ideas to life, transforming them into anything from a mall to a hot air balloon.
The exploration of both 2D and 3D shapes not only deepened mathematical understanding but also fostered artistic expression, resulting in a well-rounded educational experience.
Jack and His Giant Beanstalk Adventure
Who hasn't heard the story of Jack and the Giant Beanstalk? Our Reception students eagerly explored this well-known tale, breaking it down like little detectives. First, they watched the story come to life, then got busy identifying the characters, the setting, and the exciting events.
Their thinking skills shone as they matched pictures to the correct parts of the story. After completing their picture puzzles, they came together to see if everything was right or if some magical adjustments were needed. By the end of the lesson, the children were excited and ready to dive into more stories and find the magic waiting inside!
