As part of exploring the experiences and historical journey of a nation to identify and understand patterns and changes over time, the Year 4 team conducted a learning activity under Unit 5, themed "Where We Are in Place and Time."
At the beginning of this unit, we were honored to welcome a guest speaker, Bapak Edmund Sutisna, the grandfather of one of our Year 4 students. Pak Edmund shared his personal stories and insights about his historical journey from childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and up to the present day. His presentation was truly inspiring. The students enjoyed learning from someone with real-life experience and appreciated hearing how much society has progressed—and how much further we still have to go.
Through this session, students gained valuable knowledge about historical comparisons between the past and the present. They also developed a deeper understanding of the factors that contribute to change in a nation’s history and learned how historical events have impacted society across different time periods.
