Class Blog / Class Site

for parent communication

If you are looking for ideas to streamline class communication and you want to set up a blog or site to keep parents informed, here are two different examples.

Remember that student data and information cannot be posted onto these platforms. You may consider having your site linked to your school's webpage. For that you would contact your school administrator.

Here is what you can do with Google Sites. https://sites.google.com/gedu.sd73.bc.ca/democlasssite

I found that working with Google Sites is quite simple for users to build with. Also, it is threaded with all Google Apps and is very easy to link Docs, Forms, Calendar and YouTube. I like how stream-lined the editing process is. However, that said, it is quite simple. The format is very simple and I haven't learned to modify it beyond the basic themes that are offered (though I haven't looked very far).

I found that working with Wordpress was less user-friendly and intuitive. The basic themes have a lot more to offer in terms of the complexity of your site but they are also more complex in learning how to operate and edit. I like that it allows more variety in appearance and theme but it wasn't as well-streamlined with other apps for adding content.
