Hafa Adai, Amazing Band Hawks! For those of you who have attended Zoom Meetings and have stayed on task with all band assignments; I couldn't be more proud! I am thoroughly enjoying this opportunity to work with you and get to know you all better! Still, I am extremely worried! There are some students who I still cannot connect with. There are others who attended the first Zoom session, and perhaps did one or two assignments; but, sadly, I haven't heard from you since those first few days. Class, I know this is hard. I am sure some of you feel overwhelmed with remote learning. Still, these assignments are not difficult. If you need extra help, please reach out to me. I will bend backward to help you. All you have to do is email me to let me know you need help, and I will be sure to reach out to you! On Monday, September 28th, I am holding a "MAKE-UP" ZOOM MEETING. This is for people who have not attended last week's ZOOM MEETING on the CLARINETS and how to read TREBLE CLEF NOTES. Here is a chance to catch up. Plus, it is difficult to understand the assignments if you miss the Zoom Meetings. If you need help in any way, all you have to do is reach out to me. My email is: cwflores@gdoe.net.

For all others, make sure you have turned in all band assignments listed above. If you understand how to count out rhythms and read treble clef notes, you do not have to attend this Zoom Meeting.

Hafa Adai, Amazing Band Hawks!
This past week we learned the first four measures of the Chromatic Scale and the percussionists learned 8 different types of drum rolls; plus the "Diddle" Rudiments. I commend you for putting up with me and our make-shift, funky online instruments. Finally, our band instruments are ready to become "active members" of your home. During Tuesday's Zoom meeting, we will go over the procedures for getting your instrument, sanitizing it, and reviewing basic elements of our band music. In addition, there will be one more assignment on "DEFEATING THE GIANT". It will be posted in our Google Classroom so that you can scroll down to your music and begin to look it over.
I have truly enjoyed our Zoom sessions! Again, we will only have one Zoom session scheduled for this week to allow us time on Thursday for you to come get your band instrument. Please remember, in order to get your instrument, you will need to have completed the "RESPONSIBILITY FORM", which can be found at the bottom of this web page.
By the way, if you need help with anything, I am here for you. I will do anything to help you, even if it is a private Zoom session just for you to help you understand things better. I am still trying to foster our theme: "ONE BAND, ONE SOUND, ONE TEAM, ONE FAMILY". When you don't join Zoom sessions or connect with me, I really worry about you!

SEPTEMBER 28TH: Completion of our "RESPONSIBILITY FORM" (See below; at the bottom of this message). Also, make sure you go into Google Classroom and complete all the assignments listed there. Please double check to make sure you have completed all of these past assignments:

SEPTEMBER 3rd: Try to play or sing the Concert Bb scale in SmartMusic and send me a recording. If you have your instrument, play it. If you don't have your instrument, sing it. Percussionists may have to sing this, as well...but I will try to find some percussion activities you can do on SmartMusic. Remember, a promise is a promise. As long as you try, you will get a 100% for this activity. Even if SmartMusic gives you a bad grade...I will ignore it. 100% for anyone who plays or sings the Concert Bb Scale! PROMISE!

SEPTEMBER 29TH: ZOOM MEETING! Today, we will go over the procedures you need to know in order to pick up your instrument at school on Thursday, October 1st. We will also discuss how to thoroughly sanitize our instruments. Lastly, we will review music with a "bird's eye" view! Scroll down for the meeting code.
SEPTEMBER 30TH : You will find an assignment in Google Classroom on "Defeating the Giant", Lesson 3. Please scroll down to find the music for your particular instrument. You can use Kami (the free version) to annotate the music, or any other annotation tool you may have available on your device. You can even print it out, do the different assignments, take a picture of it; and then, email it to me.
OCTOBER 1ST: Today is the day you will receive your instrument, Come to FBLG between the hours of 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. I look forward to seeing you once again!
OCTOBER 2ND: You will find an assignment in Google Classroom on embouchures, bass guitar techniques, or learning how to execute the perfect "long roll". Watch the video for your instrument, and then answer the questions related to your instrument.
