BAND LESSONS FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 9TH - NOVEMBER 13TH
FOR BEGINNING BAND:
Hafa Adai, Amazing Band Hawks! For those of you who have attended Zoom Meetings and have stayed on task with all band assignments; I couldn't be more proud! I am thoroughly enjoying this opportunity to work with you and get to know you all better! Still, I am extremely worried! There are some students who I still cannot connect with. There are others who attended the first Zoom session, and perhaps did one or two assignments; but, sadly, I haven't heard from you since those first few days. Class, I know this is hard. I am sure some of you feel overwhelmed with remote learning. Still, these assignments are not difficult. If you need extra help, please reach out to me. I will bend backward to help you. All you have to do is email me to let me know you need help, and I will be sure to reach out to you! If you need help in any way, all you have to do is reach out to me. SPECIAL NOTE: CLASS, ALL TEACHERS WILL BEGIN TO OFFICIALLY TAKE ATTENDANCE ON POWER SCHOOL THIS QUARTER. IF YOU ARE AN ONLINE STUDENT, YOU MUST ATTEND, AT LEAST, 1 ZOOM MEETING EACH WEEK. IF YOU ARE A HARD COPY STUDENT, YOU MUST TURN IN WORK WEEKLY IN ORDER TO HAVE PERFECT ATTENDANCE FOR THAT PARTICULAR WEEK.

NOVEMBER 9TH: Usually Mondays are MAKE-UP DAYS; however, since Wednesday is a holiday, we are going to have a Zoom session, instead. We are going to learn how to play the recorder. If you didn't get a recorder, you are still required to attend the Zoom meeting. I can still teach you even if you don't have a recorder yet.
NOVEMBER 10th: Check Google Classroom for a new assignment!
NOVEMBER 11TH: SCHOOL HOLIDAY! IT'S VETERANS' DAY
NOVEMBER 12TH: Check Google Classroom for a new assignment!
NOVEMBER 13TH: IF YOU STILL NEED TO PICK UP A RECORDER, PLEASE COME TO FBLG BETWEEN 12:30 - 1:30PM! I WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU IN THE BAND ROOM (ROOM F2; NEXT TO THE CAFETERIA). THE DOOR WILL BE OPEN! YOU WILL SEE ME WAITING FOR YOU BEHIND A TABLE.

FOR ADVANCED BAND
Hafa Adai, Amazing Advanced Band Hawks!
I felt that last week's rehearsal went a little bit better than our first rehearsal; however, the lagging is definitely challenging. A couple of things that may help prevent horrible lagging would be:
1) Use headphones
2) Make sure all other devices are turned off (TV's, etc.).
Some of you still have not picked up your instrument. Please email me if you would like to pick your instrument up, and we can arrange a time that is best for your family and for me. If your parents work and you want to get your instrument, but absolutely can't come to school at that time, please email me. Perhaps we can make other arrangements. My email is cwflores@gdoe.net.
My goal is to outfit all of you with instruments so that we can try our best to really be a true band. Most of your new assignments will be performance related; however, I will continue to give alternate assignments to those who still do not have an instrument to play. We will also be using SmartMusic more and more.
I know a lot of you want a lot of songs right away. I humbly ask for your patience. It will take some time to scan all the music for everyone. Little by little, I will build our music library via Google Classroom. Each week, I will try to add in more songs. I am looking forward to more rehearsals!
By the way, if you need help with anything, I am here for you. I will do anything to help you, even if it is a private Zoom session just for you to help you understand things better. I am still trying to foster our theme: "ONE BAND, ONE SOUND, ONE TEAM, ONE FAMILY". When you don't join Zoom sessions or connect with me, I really worry about you!
Special thanks to all the parents who attended Parent-Teacher Conference and my special Zoom meeting! It was wonderful meeting all of you! IF YOU HAVE YOUR INSTRUMENT:
If you have your instrument, practice the Concert Bb Major Scale, the Chromatic Scale, and all songs you have available to you in Google Classroom. Use the practice record in Google Classroom to insert how many minutes you practice this week. This practice record is good for the entire week. You can submit it to me on Monday, November 16th. You do not have to do any additional assignment.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR INSTRUMENT:
Please complete this assignment in Google Classroom. It is a review of basic music theory.
NOVEMBER 10TH:
FOR 4TH PERIOD: It's a regular ZOOM REHEARSAL for 4th Period! I can't wait to work with you once again!
FOR 8TH PERIOD: It's a SECTIONAL REHEARSAL DAY FOR TRUMPETS. Trumpets, please join so that I can give you extra help! All other musicians will wait until Thursday for the general rehearsal.
NOVEMBER 11TH: SCHOOL HOLIDAY! IT'S VETERANS' DAY
NOVEMBER 12TH: ZOOM REHEARSAL! Today, is our regular Zoom Rehearsal for all students! Make sure you have your instruments with you; ready to go! Also, if you can, print out your copy of "OLD TOWN ROAD", "DEFEATING THE GIANT", "THE AVENGERS", and 'WILLIAM TELL OVERTURE". That's the only way we can really play together. If you don't have your instrument, be ready to sing along! All students should participate even if they don't have an instrument to use! Scroll down for the meeting code.
