BAND LESSONS FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 26TH - OCTOBER 30TH
FOR BEGINNING BAND:
Hafa Adai, Amazing Band Hawks! For those of you who have attended Zoom Meetings and have stayed on task with all band assignments; I couldn't be more proud! I am thoroughly enjoying this opportunity to work with you and get to know you all better! Still, I am extremely worried! There are some students who I still cannot connect with. There are others who attended the first Zoom session, and perhaps did one or two assignments; but, sadly, I haven't heard from you since those first few days. Class, I know this is hard. I am sure some of you feel overwhelmed with remote learning. Still, these assignments are not difficult. If you need extra help, please reach out to me. I will bend backward to help you. All you have to do is email me to let me know you need help, and I will be sure to reach out to you! On Monday, October 19th, I am holding a "MAKE-UP" ZOOM MEETING. This is for people who have not attended last week's ZOOM MEETING on the LOWER BRASS INSTRUMENTS and A REVIEW OF WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED SO FAR. Here is a chance to catch up. Plus, it is difficult to understand the assignments if you miss the Zoom Meetings. If you need help in any way, all you have to do is reach out to me. My email is: cwflores@gdoe.net.
SPECIAL NOTE: CLASS, ALL TEACHERS WILL BEGIN TO OFFICIALLY TAKE ATTENDANCE ON POWER SCHOOL THIS QUARTER. IF YOU ARE AN ONLINE STUDENT, YOU MUST ATTEND, AT LEAST, 1 ZOOM MEETING EACH WEEK. OCTOBER 26TH: MAKE-UP ZOOM MEETING for students who missed last week's Zoom Meeting on THE PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS and A REVIEW OF WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED SO FAR, or who feel lost and unable to complete our band assignments or desire additional help. For all others, make sure you have turned in all band assignments listed above. If you understand how to count out rhythms and read bass clef notes, you do not have to attend this Zoom Meeting.

Hafa Adai, Amazing Advanced Band Hawks!
I felt that last week's rehearsal went a little bit better than 2 weeks ago. The lagging is definitely challenging. A couple of things that may help prevent horrible lagging would be:
1) Use headphones
2) Make sure all other devices are turned off (TV's, etc.).
Some of you still have not picked up your instrument. Please email me if you would like to pick your instrument up, and we can arrange a time that is best for your family and for me. If your parents work and you want to get your instrument, but absolutely can't come to school at that time, please email me. Perhaps we can make other arrangements. My email is cwflores@gdoe.net.
My goal is to outfit all of you with instruments so that we can try our best to really be a true band. Most of your new assignments will be performance related; however, I will continue to give alternate assignments to those who still do not have an instrument to play. We will also be using SmartMusic more and more.
I know a lot of you want a lot of songs right away. I humbly ask for your patience. It will take some time to scan all the music for everyone. Little by little, I will build our music library via Google Classroom. Each week, I will try to add in more songs. I am looking forward to more rehearsals!
By the way, if you need help with anything, I am here for you. I will do anything to help you, even if it is a private Zoom session just for you to help you understand things better. I am still trying to foster our theme: "ONE BAND, ONE SOUND, ONE TEAM, ONE FAMILY". When you don't join Zoom sessions or connect with me, I really worry about you!

HERE ARE OUR LESSONS FOR THE WEEK:
OCTOBER 26TH: If you have your instrument, practice the Concert Bb Major Scale, the Chromatic Scale (up to the 6th measure), and all 3 songs you have available to you in Google Classroom. There will be 2 additional songs available for you to practice, as well. In addition, there is a practice record for you to use to insert how many minutes you practiced this week. I think this is a better way for you to tell me how long you practiced (last week you emailed me...but Kayla and Marin gave me the idea to insert a practice record...even though they may not have realized how they inspired me). I will go over the new practice record during our Zoom meeting on Thursday, but for now you can just insert the amount of time you practiced. There is also a space for you to tell me what you practiced.
If you do not have an instrument: Complete the Assignment in Google Classroom.
OCTOBER 27TH: FOR 4TH PERIOD: ZOOM REHEARSAL. FOR 8TH PERIOD ZOOM SECTIONAL REHEARSAL FOR ALL PERCUSSIONISTS! This might be a little confusing, so let me explain. 4th Period only has a few students in it, so it is almost like having a sectional rehearsal every time we get together. Therefore, I expect all of my 4th Period students to attend this rehearsal. 8th Period is a very large class; so for today, I want to give special attention to my percussion students. It is a time to really reach out and help each section within the band. Next Tuesday, I will work with a different instrumental group. Please scroll down for the meeting code.

OCTOBER 29TH: ZOOM REHEARSAL! Today, we will have our fourth Zoom Rehearsal! Make sure you have your instruments with you; ready to go! Also, if you can, print out your copy of "OLD TOWN ROAD", "DEFEATING THE GIANT", "THE AVENGERS", and 'WILLIAM TELL OVERTURE". That's the only way we can really play together.
