FOR MY BEGINNING BAND STUDENTS:  1ST AND 3RD PERIODS (HONOR AND JAZZ BAND; PLEASE SCROLL DOWN)

Welcoming Remarks

Hafa Adai, and welcome back to school! I can't wait to meet you and get to know you!  These have been trying times for all of us!   It was so surreal last March 13th, 2020.  It was just an ordinary, wonderful day!  No one could have ever predicted it would be the final day of school! Education, as we know it, has been forced to change.  Things won't be the same, but I have confidence I can help you become an awesome musician.  Here at FBLG, as you know, we are "Good Going for Great"!  Whether you are learning online or Face-to-Face, I believe you all have what it takes to become a wonderful musician!

I promise to help you achieve!  My goal is to personalize your band class this year (to help you one-on-one to develop the skills you need at your individual level).  I have a cool band site to share with you!  It is so awesome, but I will need to teach you how to use it.   My goal is to help you to become the best musician you possibly can be.  Someday, things will get better.  One day you will be able to join a big band and perform all over the place; but for now, we have to stay positive and make the best of this challenging situation.  Above all, safety is a priority.  We will spend several lessons on how to sanitize our instruments in a safe, sanitary way.  Of course, before you even touch the instruments, I will be teaching you the basics of learning how to read music.  It is paramount you know the basics of music before you are able to learn how to play an instrument.  This will probably take 1 month.

Your first task is to go over our Band syllabus with your parents.  Instead of passing out hard copies; I am placing them in Google Classroom.  When you go over the syllabus, you will see that  there are places for you and your parents to sign.  I must admit that I am somewhat technologically challenged, but during these past five months, I have attended numerous training sessions.  I also know I can turn to you for help, as I know you are far better at technology than I am.  I tried to put in text boxes for your parents to sign; however, if that doesn't work, your parents can always email me at:  cwflores@gdoe.net.

That said, let's have an amazing year despite our challenging circumstances!  WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL, BAND HAWKS!

Musically yours,

Mrs. Carroll W. Flores

Hafa Adai, and welcome back to school, my fantastic Honor and Jazz Band!  I have missed you, greatly!  It was so surreal last March 13th, 2020.  It was just an ordinary, wonderful day!  No one could have ever predicted it would be the final day of school!  Every time I hear one of our songs in stores or on the radio, I think of you!  Things won't be the same, but I have confidence I can help you become an awesome musician.  We are, "Good Going for Great"; after all!  Whether you are learning online or Face-to-Face, I believe you all have what it takes to become a wonderful musician!
