BAND LESSONS FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 12TH - OCTOBER 16TH
FOR BEGINNING BAND:
Hafa Adai, Amazing Band Hawks! For those of you who have attended Zoom Meetings and have stayed on task with all band assignments; I couldn't be more proud! I am thoroughly enjoying this opportunity to work with you and get to know you all better! Still, I am extremely worried! There are some students who I still cannot connect with. There are others who attended the first Zoom session, and perhaps did one or two assignments; but, sadly, I haven't heard from you since those first few days. Class, I know this is hard. I am sure some of you feel overwhelmed with remote learning. Still, these assignments are not difficult. If you need extra help, please reach out to me. I will bend backward to help you. All you have to do is email me to let me know you need help, and I will be sure to reach out to you! On Monday, October 5th, I am holding a "MAKE-UP" ZOOM MEETING. This is for people who have not attended last week's ZOOM MEETING on the UPPER BRASS INSTRUMENTS and A REVIEW OF WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED SO FAR. Here is a chance to catch up. OCTOBER 12TH: MAKE-UP ZOOM MEETING for students who missed last week's Zoom Meeting on THE UPPER BRASS INSTRUMENTS and A REVIEW OF WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED SO FAR, or who feel lost and unable to complete our band assignments or desire additional help. For all others, make sure you have turned in all band assignments listed above. If you understand how to count out rhythms and read bass clef notes, you do not have to attend this Zoom Meeting.
OCTOBER 13TH: This is a "catch-up" day. The quarter ends on Thursday, October 15th! Please use this time to review all the material we have done so far in preparation for your quarter test on October 15th!
OCTOBER 14TH: ZOOM MEETING! We will meet the LOWER BRASS FAMILY, and REVIEW FOR OUR UPCOMING TEST. Scroll down for the meeting code.
OCTOBER 15TH: Today you will take your first quarter test! It will be posted in Google Classroom! Good Luck! I want you all to do a phenomenal job!

Hafa Adai, Amazing Advanced Band Hawks!
OMG! Our first rehearsal was hilarious! More than ever, I long for the days we knew so well last year. Still, I am inspired by your patience, cooperation, diligence, and willingness to try! Together, we will find new ways of rehearsing!
Some of you were not able to get your instruments last Tuesday, so I am holding 2 other "INSTRUMENT GRAB AND GO" sessions. The first one this week will be on Monday, October 12th from 12:30PM to 1:30PM. On Tuesday, OCTOBER 13TH, you may come to FBLG from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Band Hawks, they like to close the school early, as we are not really supposed to be open at all in PCOR 1. If your parents work, want to get your instrument, but absolutely can't come to school at that time, please email me. Perhaps we can make other arrangements. My email is cwflores@gdoe.net.
My goal is to outfit all of you with instruments so that we can play together via Zoom on Thursday. If you don't have your instrument by Thursday, you can still join our Zoom meeting. You may have to sing the rhythms, but that's okay. At least we will try to rehearse together.
I know a lot of you want a lot of songs right away. I humbly ask for your patience. It will take some time to scan all the music for everyone. Little by little, I will build our music library via Google Classroom. For starters, we'll try the songs I already gave you. I can't wait to see how we do on Thursday! Each week, I will try to add in more songs. I am looking forward to our rehearsals!
By the way, if you need help with anything, I am here for you. I will do anything to help you, even if it is a private Zoom session just for you to help you understand things better. I am still trying to foster our theme: "ONE BAND, ONE SOUND, ONE TEAM, ONE FAMILY". When you don't join Zoom sessions or connect with me, I really worry about you!

SEPTEMBER 3rd: Try to play or sing the Concert Bb scale in SmartMusic and send me a recording. If you have your instrument, play it. If you don't have your instrument, sing it. Percussionists may have to sing this, as well...but I will try to find some percussion activities you can do on SmartMusic. Remember, a promise is a promise. As long as you try, you will get a 100% for this activity. Even if SmartMusic gives you a bad grade...I will ignore it. 100% for anyone who plays or sings the Concert Bb Scale! PROMISE!

OCTOBER 13TH: If you weren't able to get your instrument last TUESDAY, you may come today. I will be at FBLG between the hours of 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. I look forward to seeing you once again! No Zoom meeting today. Now that you have your instruments, please practice THE CONCERT Bb MAJOR SCALE, THE CHROMATIC SCALE (first 4 measures), "OLD TOWN ROAD", and "DEFEATING THE GIANT".
OCTOBER 14TH : Continue to practice the scales and songs listed above. If you need help with anything...anything at all, email me. If you need special help with the notes, perhaps we can set up a mini Zoom session this evening to help you. It is my goal to have mini sectional rehearsals as we go along (a Zoom for just the flutes, the lower brass, the trumpets, the percussion, etc.).
OCTOBER 15TH ZOOM REHEARSAL! Today, we will have our second Zoom Rehearsal! Make sure you have your instruments with you; ready to go! Also, if you can, print out your copy of "OLD TOWN ROAD", "DEFEATING THE GIANT", and "THE AVENGERS". That's the only way we can really play together. If you don't have your instrument, be ready to sing along! Scroll down for the meeting code.
OCTOBER 16TH: I will do my best to post a new song for you to practice. Keep on practicing! Practice makes perfect! I would like to offer sectional rehearsals today. I will need to coordinate with you to make sure there are no conflicts with other classes.
