The goal of your project proposal is to describe the game you plan to create in enough detail to show how it will be played, how the game will be fun, how it will be novel, and what tools you will use to create it. It is particularly important that your game's novel aspect is clearly explained.
In development proposals are presented to investors and publishers to help them decide if they will fund your project.
In UAL courses your proposal defines the terms of Final Major Project and is used to define if this has been successful.
Write a 200 - 250 word proposal to describe the game you wish to create. This should cover:
Theme - Where is the level set, what will it look like.
Player - What it looks like how it controls.
Enemy - What they will look like, how they will act. (Optional)
Mechanics - How will the player control.
Goal - What is the player trying to do? How will they beat the level.
Platform - What system the game will run on.
Extras - What will you add to make the game better? Tile Maps? Pickups?
How your game will meet the sponsors brief?
Be sensible with the scope of the project. It's better to understate how much you make than over state.
This has been included, not to show a good format for UAL proposals, but to show however successful you have become as a developer you still have to write proposals.
What steps will you go through to make a platform game?
Kanban Boards are a very quick easy way to plan out what needs to be done and what you have completed.
To set up go to Trello.com and create an account using your College Google Account.
Press the Create button. Select the options as shown.
Each board needs lists. Create lists for 'To Do - Optional', 'To Do - Essential', 'To Do - Urgent', 'Doing' and 'Done'.
Next add a card for each stage of the project.
When you need to you can move the cards between lists.
Create an initial list and add a print screen to your project.
As you move through your project move the cards around to show your progress. Add a print screen each week to show your progress.
