PERSONAL EVALUATION
1. Evaluation of Product - Success
Considering my agenda cover was chosen by my client, I very well managed to fulfill my design specifications: My product represented the TMS community and morals; it uses the appropriate fonts (Craft Gothic Condensed) and colours (house colours and TMS standard colours); it follows all technical requirements such as using the safety, bleed, and trim lines.
I believe I was most successful in representing the TMS community. The TMS curriculum focuses on giving students an opportunity to express themselves through their work in different mediums, some more logical (geometric) and some more creative (organic); I captured such creativity using the overlapping triangles being the geometric, and the curved arrows showing a more organic view of the way TMS approaches learning.
The main factor that likely led to such success in my final product was my addition of Ms.Wong’s feedback to my layout sketch when working on criterion C.
2. Needed Improvements
While I was successful in fulfilling the majority of my design specifications, under the "function" section, I state that I wanted to provide an organized look to my agenda cover to encourage the TMS Upper School student body to practice their organizational skills as IB learners. My cover, while aesthetically appealing, does not show this organization; the designs of the triangles and the arrows are not arranged in a particular order and are instead scattered in different, slightly random spots around the cover. Therefore, to better fulfill this design specification, I can have a logical order in the way I arrange one of the shapes (arranging both of them geometrically would take away from the creativity of my design) to provide this organized look. This also would have better portrayed the Strategic Direction project involving TMS' transition to Lauremont Schools.
