Preparing for Layout Sketches
Typography Games
As shown below, I worked on a few of the given font games websites to find 2 fonts that went well together for my infographic as well as to further explore typography. From this experience, I was able to better understand how I should find 2 fonts for my infographic that went well together; it is best to choose 2 fonts that are very similar but have slight differences so that the poster has a cohesive theme throughout. This was useful in preparing for my infographic because it gave me a better idea of what fonts would be best for my infographic and theme.
Layout Sketches
Presenting My Ideas
For my peer feedback, I presented (to two of my peers, Serena and Baran) my design specifications for this assignment, my 3 layout sketches, and why sketch 2 is my chosen layout sketch using CRAP principles. I asked of both of them to give their opinions on which layout sketch is best fit for my purpose and why.
The video below presents Serena and Baran's individual feedback about which sketch they have chosen as the best fit for my infographic.
Justification for my Chosen Sketch
My Chosen Sketch
My chosen layout sketch is sketch 2. As I explained before, this sketch makes good of CRAP principles by using contrast with titles, repetition in fonts, alignment in text boxes, and proximity in how close my 3 text boxes are. It best shows my design specifications; my background for each section is one color (light blue or white), my color scheme matches the color of my chosen organization’s logo, and my dark blue/black titles are against a light-coloured background. Based on peer feedback, my layout makes the data and diagrams easy-to-follow and the separation of information creates better organization.
