Master’s students are required to:
have weekly supervision, which must be individual supervision (one or two supervisees in supervision) at least every other week.
receive at least one hour of supervision for every five client contact hours. It is the student's responsibility to track their hours and maintain an acceptable ratio.
accrue 100 hour of supervision, 50 of which involve the use of observable data (live supervision, videotaped, or audio taped sessions). Only 25 hours of the observable data supervision can be from audiotapes.
have group supervision (a group involves at least three but no more than eight supervisees).
Students who see clients in the Center or engage in observation or reflecting team practice are required to enroll either in Practicum (MFT 750, 760, 761, 762, 763, 764) or MFT 860. Supervision occurs as part of enrollment in an appropriate course. Supervisors are assigned at the beginning of each semester, and all students begin supervision before seeing clients.
AAMFT approved supervisors (usually MFT faculty) or supervisor candidates supervise all clinical work in the CFTC.
Supervision meets weekly during the time when the students have direct client contact. Attendance at supervision is required. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule this supervision.
The student completes an anonymous evaluation of their supervisor at the end of each semester. Evaluation results are given to the supervisor on an annual basis.
The CFTC supervisor provides ongoing evaluation and feedback to the supervisee, and verbal evaluation is done in faculty interviews. A written evaluation of the student progress will be completed in Tevera by your supervisor at the end of each semester.
