There are 14 therapy rooms in the Center. All are equipped with computers and cameras for recording and viewing sessions live, as well as equipment for teletherapy sessions. Six rooms have one-way mirrors for observation and live supervision.
Please be mindful of the supplies and technology you will use when reserving clinic space, leaving specialized rooms like play rooms or sandtrays available for those who need them.
The clinic is divided into three suites. Suite A contains 8 therapy rooms, two of which have sandtrays. There is an observation room in Suite A, allowing easy viewing access into two different therapy rooms. Each room in Suite A will have some paper and writing supplies in the file cabinet. However, any additional supplies (art, games, play materials) can be found in the cabinets in the entryway of Suite A. Please take supplies when needed for sessions and return immediately upon session completion. Suites B and C are closest to the waiting area and have another five therapy rooms.
There are 5 play therapy rooms: 309, 321, 322, 324, 326. After a play session, please be sure that the toys are picked up and returned to their place so someone else can use them. Additional games and art materials are stored in Suite A. Again, return these materials to their original place on the shelves or bins when done. Let the Clinic Administrative Assistant know when we are running low on play supplies.
The Clinic Director welcomes any suggestions or requests for additional play supplies.
There are 3 sandtray rooms with miniatures: 303, 312, and 324. Before using the tray ask the client(s) to wash hands or use hand sanitizer.
Leave time for clean up at the end of the session (and before the next appointment is scheduled).
When disassembling the sand tray, be sure to wipe sand of miniatures and put away correctly. The shelves are clearly labeled and the miniatures MUST be returned to the specific shelves from which they came. This ensures that the next time a client uses the sand tray they can find what they are looking for. The order and care of the miniatures reflects the depth of the sand tray work.
After completing a session, the student therapist MUST ensure that the room is left clean and neat: wipe the white boards, throw away any tissues, arrange the furniture to original position, and return any toys, charts, or other props to the storage cabinet in Suite A. Be sure to wipe off telephones, keyboards, doorknobs or other surfaces that have been touched. Turn off the lights, log off the computer, and switch sign outside room to “Open”. Please be thoughtful and leave the room as you would like to find it.
It is critical that ALL items in all rooms are to be put back neatly and the room is cleaned when the session is over. Clients and therapists cannot remove play items (toys, games, sandtray minis) from the Center. It is also important for therapists to monitor their clients’ behavior in such a way such that the space is kept clean. If there are spills or marks on furniture or walls, please clean it up. Please notify the Clinic Administrative Assistant if there are issues with computers, broken items, or supply requests.
There is a vacuum in 327 for clinic use.
Please refer to the 3rd floor plan as a quick reference as to which rooms contain which items and technology.
