Student therapists schedule their own appointments within the regular Center hours. Therapy should not be scheduled when students are required to be in class or during the lunch hour from 12:00-1:00. Sessions should also not be scheduled before the Center opens at 9 am or after it closes at 8 pm. Therapy is to be scheduled on the hour. If there must be an exception to this, please check with the Clinic Director.
Sessions are not to be conducted unless there is a supervisor on call. The on-call schedule can be found here, as well as at the front desk of the clinic.
At this time, the Center sees all clients on a pro-bono basis. There are no fees for services.
Client Parking. In addition to being on a bus route, there is free parking available for clients on the side of the building. There are also meters on McBride Street, which is next to Peck Hall.
Accessible Parking. Accessible parking spaces are available. The accessible entrance is located at the side entrance from the parking lot. There is an elevator inside on first floor.
Student Parking. Students can park along McBride Street (along Peck Hall) or purchase parking from the Syracuse City lot next to Peck Hall. Students may park in the side lot beginning at 4:45 pm each day. Students may not park in Peck Hall lots during the day as they will be ticketed.
The Lower Level of Peck Hall has been created as a secured area for students away from the public. There are lockers, rest rooms, kitchen area, and a study/teaming/relaxation area. Graduate students are responsible for this area
Graduate students are to keep the kitchen area clean. Please ensure dishes are washed, the dishwasher is empty and refrigerator is clean.
Cleaning supplies will be left in the kitchen to use. These cleaning supplies are for the Kitchen use ONLY. Do not take any home with you. Please do not leave food out. There is a coffee machine, but supply your own coffee, sugar and milk. The Keurig machine has an inset to make your own coffee without K-cups. In New York State, we recycle glass, paper, plastic and drink bottles. There are recycle bins in the kitchen.
There are lockers for each student to use located in the hallway and kitchen. If you want a lock on it, you will need to provide your own
In the Kitchen Area in the back of the room are mailboxes for each student. Any written communication will be left in your mailbox, so please check it.
This room is open for rest or workspace for students. There may be times when the computer stations need to be used for teams observing therapy sessions. If that is the case, only active team members may use the room.
This room is for doctoral research assistants and is located in the basement at the end of the hallway.
During a fire alarm, elevators will automatically return to the first floor. Elevators cannot be operated during a fire emergency.
Although we will schedule drills when there are likely to be no clients in the building, in the event of an actual emergency, you need to be sure your clients evacuate the building with you.
The last person to leave a room should close the door behind them.
Basement
Use south stairwell (E. Genesee Street) or emergency exit to outside stairwell. If using outside stairwell, the gate will open from the inside by pressing the breaker bar.
First Floor
Rooms 111 and 113 use side exit (ramp exit)
Rooms 103 and computer lab use main exit (E. Genesee Street)
Second Floor
Use the south stairwell.
Third Floor
Use the south stairwell.
Fourth Floor
Use the north stairwell (Fayette Street exit).
The south stairwell does not exit the building directly. Persons taking the south stairwell must exit into the ground floor lobby and take the lobby exit to the East Genesee Street side of the building. The security guard on the first floor will assist in directing traffic to the exit. The south stairwell is rated fireproof.
If you are with a client or someone else who cannot use the stairs, direct them to wait in the landing of the south stairwell. Call 911 to report the location (south stairwell, floor number and the building address) of the person needing assistance. Even though the fire alarm will automatically summon the fire department, they need to be alerted to someone needing assistance on the stairs. Wait with that person until a fire monitor can stay with them. Do not attempt to move the person down the stairs yourself.
After evacuating the building, all persons must meet on the lawn on the E. Genesee street side of the building. Do not congregate in the parking lots, which must be kept clear for emergency vehicles.
