Rural Alaska Honors Institute (RAHI)
RAHI is a competitive program that gives rural and Alaska Native students a chance to find out what it is like to be a college student. Students must be Juniors and/or Seniors to attend. For six weeks during the summer, students live and study on the UAF campus taking an average of 9 college credits.
If selected, students attend RAHI for Free including flight to Fairbanks, housing on campus, meals and activities.
Applications for RAHI open in January and close in March.
Inspiring Girls* Expeditions
Each summer the leaders from Inspiring Girls* Expeditions lead tuition-FREE expeditions for high school girls* in the studies of field science, art, and backcountry travel. Expeditions teams are selected through an application process.
Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program (ANSEP)
Programs for Elementary through High School Students, ANSEP aims to:
Improve academics
Eliminate need for university remediation
Increase retention
Save students and families money
Opportunities for High School students include:
Summer Bridge: Summer opportunity where students work a paid summer internship in the engineering, science, or business field with on of ANSEP's partners. All costs are covered by ANSEP.
Students graduating high school and attending the University of Alaska in the fall can apply.
Take the ALEKS Math Placement Test or have successfully completed Math 105
Submit application including ALEKS score, resume, official transcript, student written cover letter.
Summer Acceleration Academy: Held over the summer for 5 weeks. Students live on the UAA campus while taking one or two college courses in math, science, engineering, alaska native studies, or writing.
Take the ALEKS Math Placement Test and place into MATH 105 or higher
Submit application including ALEKS score, official high school transcript, 500-word essay, math and science teacher recommendation forms, Signed ANSEP Studies Agreement Form.
Outer Coast
Outer Coast in Sitka is a two-year liberal arts college. Currently Outer Coast offers their Summer Seminar targeting rising juniors and seniors giving them the opportunity to live on campus, complete rigorous coursework, and engage in work-based service in the community of Sitka.
Sitka Fine Arts Camp
Students explore new arts and are able to build skills in ones already familiar to them.
High School Camp: Open for students entering 10th grade through 2025 graduates the Sitka Fine Arts Camp runs for 2-weeks every summer.

Musical Theater Camp: Open to students entering the 9th grade through current sophomores in college. Musical Theater Camp is 3-weeks with the option of students selecting one of three tracks:
Acting Track-acting, singing, dancing
Technical Theater Track-lighting, sound, rigging, video, stage management
Costuming Track-design and construction of costumes (must know how to sew)
Students will be housed on the Sheldon Jackson College Campus.

Leadership program for students in 10th grade focusing on volunteerism, integrity, excellence, diversity, and community partnerships.

Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America (LEDA)
Intensive five-week program FREE for LEDA Scholars. Including leadership training, academic writing instruction, test prep, college guidance, and community building.
To become a LEDA Scholar you must:
Be a Junior in high school
Be a U.S. Citizen
Have a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above
Have a total annual household income of $90,000 or below (including assets)

Distinguished Young Women
College scholarships are awarded at the state level and national level. The state representative will advance to the national program for the opportunity to complete.
STEM Enhancement in Earth Science (SEES)
Summer Intern Program is a nationally competitive STEM experience for high school students. Interns will learn how to interpret NASA satellite data while working with scientists and engineers in their chosen area of work, including astronomy, remote sensing, and space geodetic techniques to help understand Earth systems, natural hazards and climate science.
The Jackson Laboratory Summer Student Program
The Summer Student Program is designed for students who want to immerse themselves in genetics and genomics research. It emphasizes laboratory discovery, communication of knowledge, and professional growth.
