The Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) is a training center located in Seward run by the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. AVTEC provides students with opportunities to receive certifications/training in the following fields:

Intro to Mechanics program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm-9pm and 8am-4pm on Satudays.
Alaska Works
Alaska Works is a non-profit program that connects Alaskans with job opportunities in construction. Through a partnership with employers, community organizations, educators, and the state, Alaska Works is able to provide education and training.
Free Programs through Alaska Works include:
You must be 18 or older with a valid, ID or driver's license

Job Corps provides housing, meals, basic health care and training gear so that students can focus on what matters most – their future.
Alaska Career College (ACC) is located in Anchorage and has been providing training opportunities for students for 39 years. Programs include the following:
Therapeutic Massage Specialist
Scholarship available through Massage Envy for ACC potential and active massage students.
Cosmetology in Alaska
No matter the economy, we all want to look nice! According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, employment of barbers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists is projected to grow 7 percent from 2023 to 2033!
Anchorage currently has three programs for students interested in the beauty industry:
Maintenance Fellows Program
Students who are graduating might consider a career pathway opportunity with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. In this program you would work alongside conservation professionals to gain technical expertise in maintaining property assets and habitat management.
