I was born in Miami, Florida, which is about the farthest place from Alaska that is still in the United States. I attended college at the University of Florida, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy. After college, I traveled extensively around the United States, including hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine and the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. I lived in South America for 2 years, studying Spanish in Ecuador and traveling across the continent by bicycle.
In 2005, I moved to King Salmon, AK, where I began my career in education; a profession I entered because I love guiding people on the intellectual journey to better understand the world around us. In 2009 I joined the KPBSD to teach Social Studies for the Distance Learning Program. Prior to that I taught classes in Social Studies, Math, Spanish, and Carpentry in Bristol Bay and Delta Junction.
Besides teaching, I enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities, including paddling and skiing in any of their many forms, mountain biking, and family camping trips. When at home, I love to read, cook and play games.
Fun Fact - I never saw snow until I was 20 years old
