Back in the 1900s, someone said to me, "You should teach Special Ed. You'd always have a job." That seemed wise counsel so I did all the things and started with KPBSD in 2006. After 14 years as the K-12 Resource Teacher for Nikolaevsk School and two years as a K-2 Intensive Needs Teacher at Paul Banks Elementary, I'm now serving students and families as an itinerant teacher for Kachemak Bay's fly-in schools and a handful of other online special education services.

Yes, I fly in small planes during "sporty" weather. I cheerlead students through the doldrums of February.  I relentlessly fight to help students get to their graduation stage and be ready for what's next.  I *love* this flavor of special education. 

I also love baseball, coffee, Melona frozen bars (honeydew flavor), Buc-cee's, and my three kiddos. I claim dual citizenship in Alaska and Texas with plans to "Snowbird" between the two sooner than later. The best NFL football game is always when the Seattle Seahawks play the Dallas Cowboys: it's a win-win situation for me!

A favorite proverb sums things up: The fates lead the willing, the unwilling they drag.  Being dragged is no fun; running with your challenges and opportunities is such the better option.
