Texas law mandates training requirements for all personnel who provide instruction and services in a school district's program for Gifted/Talented (G/T) Students. Teachers must complete an initial 30 hours of G/T training, including Nature and Needs of Gifted/Talented Students and Identification and Assessment of Gifted/Talented Students. In subsequent years training consists of an annual 6 hour update. Below are G/T professional development requirements for staff members in Hays Consolidated Independent School District for the 2026-2027 school year. 19 TAC §89.2(1)19 TAC §89.2(3)
