Social cooperation program for promoting education on next-generation quantum science
The Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo established the "Next-Generation Quantum Science Education Promotion" social collaboration course within the University of Tokyo on March 1, 2023, in collaboration with Toshiba Corporation, Hitachi, Ltd., NEC Corporation, Fujitsu Limited, and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. The aim is to develop a research and educational program that provides a broad overview from quantum science to quantum technology. Additionally, a career support program will be provided to cultivate professionals who are well-versed in a wide range of quantum science and technology, and to address issues that align with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and global commons through prompt social implementation.
This course, offered by the Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo and the Quantum Science and Technology International Doctorate Program (WINGS-QSTEP), in collaboration with five major companies providing information and communication-related equipment and IT services, will provide an exceptional education program on quantum science and technology to doctoral students involved in the field of quantum science and technology. Through strengthening collaboration with the industry, the program aims to not only offer a wide range of career paths, including academia, industry, and government, but also bring about a transformation in the mindset of students and cultivate future leaders who will pave the way for Japan's future.
